The City of Lawrenceburg has completed demolition of the gazebo formerly located on the downtown public square after officials determined the structure had fallen into significant disrepair and was no longer safe for continued use.

According to the city, the Public Works Department moved quickly to address growing safety concerns surrounding the deteriorating condition of the structure and utilized a last-minute opportunity for scheduling and coordination to complete the demolition.

City officials say roads accessing the square remain open, but motorists are encouraged to use caution while traveling around the area.

The city says future plans for what may replace the gazebo on the square will be decided at a later date.
