Maury County Emergency Management has announced the first test of the county’s newly installed outdoor tornado warning siren system will take place Monday, May 11, at 1:00 PM.

Officials say the activation is only a test, and no action will be required from the public.

During the test, sirens will sound briefly throughout the community. Emergency officials say residents who hear the sirens at that time should not seek shelter, as there will be no actual emergency.

Maury County Emergency Management is also encouraging residents to use the opportunity to review their family’s severe weather safety plans and preparedness procedures.
