The City of Columbia will conduct a city-wide tornado siren test on Monday, May 11, at 1:00 PM.
City officials say the test is part of a new emergency siren notification system featuring 12 strategically placed sirens across Columbia designed to strengthen emergency communication during severe weather events.
Officials noted the announcement comes two years after a devastating tornado impacted the community.
The City of Columbia says regular siren testing will continue in the future as part of its ongoing public safety efforts.
