Scammer Impersonates Local Pastor

A scammer sent text messages last week posing as First United Methodist Church Lawrenceburg’s pastor, Tory Dillard, asking a parishioner to purchase gift cards for hospitalized children to be distributed through an outreach program.  The scammer indicated he could only communicate by text message due to his schedule and indicated his intent to reimburse the recipient for the purchase.  The church issued an alert, warning the public of the scam and asking that anyone approached in such a manner contact the church for verification.
