Lawrenceburg Police Department Warns of Counterfeit Money

The Lawrenceburg Police Department reports that a number of incidents involving counterfeit money are currently under investigation through the department.   Both individuals and businesses have reported accepting payment only to discover later that they have been duped with phony cash.  The bills are discretely marked with the words “For Motion Picture Purposes, It Is Not Legal Tender” however those receiving the bills did not immediately notice the markings.  Officials urge everyone to inspect the bills before accepting them as legal tender.  If you have received similar bills for payment, contact the police department at 931-762-1726.
