The Tennessee General Assembly has adjourned its 2026 legislative session.
According to a legislative update from Senator Joey Hensley, lawmakers concluded the session Thursday after passing a range of measures focused on public safety, healthcare, education, and economic development.
The state approved a $58.3 billion balanced budget with no new debt, along with funding for infrastructure projects, workforce development, and rural healthcare initiatives.
Lawmakers also passed legislation addressing issues such as domestic violence, human trafficking, immigration enforcement, and criminal justice reforms.
In healthcare, the session included measures aimed at improving access to care, supporting rural providers, and increasing transparency in prescription drug pricing.
Lt. Governor Randy McNally was also recognized during the session as he prepares to retire later this year, marking nearly five decades of public service in the General Assembly.
Officials say the legislature will reconvene for its next session in 2027.
