The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is highlighting recent training efforts and recognizing one of its own for outstanding service.
Officials say Nurse Carrie White and Lt. Susan Taylor recently completed Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) instructor certification in Madison County. The 40-hour, evidence-based program prepares first responders to handle mental health and substance use crises, with a focus on de-escalation and connecting individuals to appropriate care.
With the certification, the sheriff’s office will now be able to offer CIT training locally and open it to surrounding agencies.
The department also announced that Sgt. Anthony Lovett has been named Facility Training Officer of the Year by the Tennessee Corrections Institute. The award recognizes excellence in training new corrections deputies and maintaining state compliance standards.
Officials say Lovett’s leadership and dedication to training continue to have a positive impact on the department.
