Escapee Recaptured by Madison Authorities

An escaped inmate was apprehended by Madison County officials last week.  Jacob Bastiaan had fled from deputies while receiving medical treatment at Huntsville Hospital.  Deputies checking a suspicious vehicle at a motel, report that he fled on foot.  While fleeing, he illegally entered a home, stealing a firearm and a vehicle.  He was later located at an apartment complex.  During the foot chase he sustained an injury to his foot and was transported once again for medical attention.   Based on the newest incident, Bastiaan is charged with two counts of attempting to elude authorities, burglary, theft of property, and escape.  He had previously been jailed on trafficking charges.  Bond has been set at $3 million 240 thousand dollars.
