The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club was invited to become a Peace Builders Club during its regular meeting on Friday, April 17, 2026, following a special presentation by Milan, Tennessee Rotarian Beverly Johnson.
Johnson addressed the club on the principles and mission of Rotary Peacebuilding, outlining both the benefits and the process for achieving designation as a Peace Builders Club. She emphasized Rotary’s global commitment to promoting peace through service, education, and community engagement.
During her presentation, Johnson explained that Peace Builders Clubs commit to integrating peacebuilding initiatives into their local and international service efforts. These initiatives may include conflict resolution programs, community outreach, youth engagement, and partnerships that foster understanding and cooperation.
She detailed the steps required for designation, which include adopting peace-focused goals, engaging club members in peacebuilding activities, and maintaining an ongoing commitment to Rotary’s Areas of Focus related to peace and conflict prevention. Johnson also highlighted the broader impact of becoming a Peace Builders Club, noting that participation strengthens a club’s ability to contribute to sustainable, positive change both locally and globally. She encouraged members to consider the opportunity as a natural extension of Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self.”
The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club expressed appreciation to Johnson for her informative presentation and will consider the opportunity to pursue Peace Builders Club designation as part of its continued commitment to service and community leadership.
The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club meets weekly and remains dedicated to improving lives through local projects and international partnerships.
