According to media reports, the family of a 7-year-old Alabama girl injured in a weekend crash says life support measures are being ended as plans are made for organ donation.
Family members say Brynleigh Pledger was critically injured in an April 11 crash that also claimed the lives of her mother, 33-year-old Ashley Hagood, her 13-year-old brother Bryant Ballew, and her twin sister, Bryleigh Pledger.
In a social media update, the child’s stepmother said Brynleigh had fought hard, but her injuries were not survivable.
The family says her legacy will live on through organ donation.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Highways 157 and 24 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Another child involved, 10-year-old Bentley Pledger, was also injured and is continuing to recover.
