Maury Sheriff’s Officials Warn of Scam

Officials with the Maury County Sheriff’s Department are alerting the public to a scam circulating in the area. Residents have been contacted by a caller claiming to be Sheriff Bucky Rowland or a member of his staff, using a spoofed phone number.  The caller claims that to avoid being arrested you must pay fines immediately by way of gift cards, wire transfers or Bitcoin.  They urge residents to simply hang up and do not follow any directions.  This is an elaborate scam, and you should not follow directions or give out personal information.
