The Tennessee Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of the Courts are warning residents about a phishing scam involving text messages and emails claiming recipients have outstanding parking or toll violations.

Officials say the messages appear to come from the Tennessee Supreme Court and include links or QR codes directing users to fraudulent websites.

Chief Justice Jeff Bivins emphasized that the messages are not legitimate, noting that Tennessee courts do not send texts or emails regarding unpaid tickets.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation urges anyone who receives one of these messages to ignore it, avoid clicking any links or scanning QR codes, and delete the message.

Residents are also encouraged to report scam messages to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.

Phishing scams are designed to trick individuals into providing sensitive information, such as login credentials or financial details, by posing as trusted organizations. These messages often create a sense of urgency to prompt quick action.

Anyone who believes they may have interacted with a fraudulent message is advised to contact the ITSD Helpdesk at 800-448-7980 or visit support.tncourts.gov for assistance.
