The City of Columbia has announced a major transportation improvement project along State Route 99, also known as Bear Creek Pike, as part of the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s 10-Year Project Plan.
The project, included through the Statewide Partnership Program, will widen Bear Creek Pike from Nashville Highway to Interstate 65. Officials say the improvements are aimed at enhancing roadway safety, improving traffic flow, and strengthening connectivity for residents, businesses, and emergency services.
TDOT has committed up to $180 million toward the project, with construction currently anticipated in 2037. The City of Columbia plans to contribute $1 million annually over 10 years, totaling $10 million.
Due to the scale of the project, TDOT will lead the effort in coordination with the city.
Officials say the project reflects Columbia’s long-term approach to addressing transportation needs while supporting growth and quality of life. Additional details are expected as the project moves through the planning and development process.
