The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responded to a reported drowning on Tims Ford Lake in Moore County Sunday, April 5 at approximately 5:20 PM.
According to TWRA, 24-year-old Blake Lewis of Tullahoma was on the lake with a friend in a paddle craft-style vessel when he fell overboard and entered the water. Officials say Lewis appeared to struggle to swim, and the other occupant attempted to assist by throwing multiple personal flotation devices, but he was unable to reach them before going under.
Emergency crews from Franklin County, Moore County, and TWRA responded to the scene. Search efforts using sonar led to Lewis being located and recovered at approximately 7:11 PM.
Authorities say Lewis was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the incident.
The incident remains under investigation. It marks the fourth boating-related fatality on Tennessee waterways in 2026 and the second on Tims Ford Lake this year.
