Firefighters responded to a structure fire early Monday in the St. Joseph area off Fowler Drive near the railroad tracks.
According to the City of St. Joseph, the remote location of the structure and dense, overgrown vegetation made it difficult for crews to initially access the scene. Mutual aid was requested, with the Loretto Fire Department and Southeast Fire Department responding to assist.
The Tennessee Division of Forestry was also called in for specialized support. Forestry crews used a dozer to clear a path, allowing fire apparatus to reach the structure and enabling firefighters to battle the blaze.
Officials say the fire was successfully extinguished through the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Anyone with information about the fire or possible individuals involved is asked to contact the St. Joseph Police Department or the St. Joseph Fire Department.
