Maury Man Convicted of Aggravated Rape

A Maury County jury returned guilty verdicts against James Jones Wednesday on two counts of aggravated rape.  Jones stood trial on accusations that he and another man transported an impaired woman from The Other Bar in Mount Pleasant on September of 2021, raping her while she suffered seizures.  The victim was able to escape and sought assistance from the Maury County Sheriff’s Department.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 18.
