Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against a man charged with capital murder in the death of a Florence woman, according to media reports.
A grand jury has upgraded the charge against Logan Rogers from murder to capital murder, allowing prosecutors to pursue the most severe penalty.
Rogers is charged in the death of Autumn Strickland, who was reported missing in May 2025. Investigators allege Rogers intentionally ran over Strickland with her own vehicle, then circled back and struck her a second time.
According to court documents, Rogers later returned to the scene and removed her body. Her remains were eventually found burned at the property where Rogers was later taken into custody.
Members of Strickland’s family were present in the courtroom as the decision was made official.
Attorneys also discussed a potential trial timeline, with a target date set for December 2026. The judge indicated the case is expected to take longer than a typical trial due to the seriousness of the charges.
