THP Warns of Scam

The Tennessee Highway patrol and other state agencies are warning area residents about an aggressive text message scam where the sender claims that you owe fines for traffic infractions.  The text threatens loss of driver’s license, civil judgments, court action, and other consequences for nonpayment.  Officials remind residents that these are merely a scam and that legitimate agencies would never contact you by text or email.  They remind residents, “Don’t click. Don’t pay. Delete and report.”  Never click on the links provided or provide any type of personal information.
