New data from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows much of southern Middle Tennessee remains under moderate drought conditions.
Lawrence, Giles, Lewis, and Marshall counties are all fully classified in D1, or moderate drought.
Wayne County is also mostly in moderate drought, with the northwestern part of the county experiencing D2, or severe drought.
In Maury County, most of the area is in moderate drought, with the northern portion of the county classified as D0, or abnormally dry.
The latest map was released Thursday, March 26, with data valid as of March 24.
Officials say these conditions increase the risk of wildfires and can impact agriculture and water resources if dry weather continues.
