A Lawrence County family has been recognized for generations of service to 4-H.
The Hartsfield family has been named the 2026 recipient of the Brown/Gilliam Legacy Award, honoring their long-standing involvement in Lawrence County 4-H.
The family’s connection to 4-H spans three generations, beginning with C.A. and Patty Hartsfield, who were both active members in their youth. Their involvement continued as they mentored their children and later their grandchildren through livestock and poultry programs.
Over the years, the Hartsfields have contributed as volunteer leaders, mentors, and supporters of youth programs, including livestock showmanship and poultry projects. Their efforts have extended beyond the county level, with participation in state and national 4-H events.
The award was presented during the 79th Tennessee State 4-H Congress on March 10.
UT TSU Extension Lawrence County and Lawrence County 4-H officials praised the family for their continued dedication and service to young people in the community.
