Virgil Long

Virgil Long, age 87, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his residence. He was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Ethridge Masonic Lodge 777 for 60 years. Mr. Long enjoyed part- time electrical work and farming, both row crop and cattle. Mr. Long served his country honorably in the US Army. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Julia Criswell Long; three brothers, Delbert Long, Jimmy Long, and Larry Long; and one grandson, Dustin Long. 

He is survived by one son, Steven Long (Susan) of Lawrenceburg, TN, two sisters Darlene Smith of the Brace Community and Judy Carol Long of Lawrenceburg, TN; three brothers, Billy Long, Bobby Long, and Tommy Long all of Lawrenceburg, TN; one grandchild, Cassie Doss (Kody) of Lawrenceburg, TN; and three great- grandchildren, Silas Doss, Olivia Doss, and Bristol Doss. 

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Lizzie Newton, Joann Self, Nan Barton, and Heather Darby. 

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2026, with Chad Clanton and Danny Huckaba officiating with a masonic service to follow. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to the Ethridge Masonic Lodge 777.
