A Nashville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Lauderdale County, according to media sources.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred at approximately 12:01 p.m. on Lauderdale County Road 47 near its intersection with Lauderdale County Road 63, about four miles northeast of St. Florian.
Authorities say Daria A. Smith, 33, of Nashville, was fatally injured when the 2015 Nissan Rogue she was driving collided head-on with a 2018 Jeep Wrangler driven by David T. Martin, 52, of Lexington. Troopers report that Smith was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Martin was injured in the collision and transported to North Alabama Medical Center in Florence for treatment. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.
