Structure Fire Reported in Iron City Fire District

Shortly after 3:00 AM on Thursday, February 26, Lawrence County Fire & Rescue units were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the Iron City Fire District. First responders found a 30-by-30-foot building fully involved in flames.

Units from the Iron City and West Point stations quickly extinguished the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, though a nearby burn pile containing materials—including a mattress, which are illegal to burn—cannot be ruled out. The property owners did not have a permit for burning any of the materials.
