State Rep. Kip Capley of Summertown announced that the Wayne Farmers Cooperative in Waynesboro has been awarded $250,000 in grant funding. The funds are administered by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture through the Tennessee Forestry, Agriculture and Rural Markets (FARM) cost-share program to support farmers, forest landowners, and rural businesses.
Capley said cooperatives have an important history in Tennessee and are vital to the success of rural economies. He described the Wayne Farmers Co-Op as a trusted partner for local farmers and expressed appreciation for the cooperative’s work strengthening the community’s agriculture industry.
The FARM cost-share program helps offset costs for equipment, infrastructure, and supply chain enhancements. Wayne Farmers Co-Op will use the award for equipment purchases and to expand the cooperative.
Twenty-seven agricultural and forestry projects received grants in this round, bringing the total to 97 recipients across four funding cycles.
Rep. Capley represents District 71 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Wayne and parts of Hardin, Lawrence, and Maury counties.
