Authorities have identified a suspect in connection with Sunday night’s homicide. Aaron Wayne Purvis, 31, of Atmore, Alabama, was taken into custody on Monday, Feb. 16, in Franklin County, Tennessee, on unrelated charges. During the arrest, multiple firearms and other evidence were recovered. Investigators believe one of the firearms found in Purvis’s possession was used in the Sunday shooting.
Warrants have been filed charging Purvis with first-degree homicide and attempted first-degree homicide. Purvis will be transported to the Giles County Jail after his release from Franklin County.
Giles County Sheriff expressed appreciation to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration, as well as to District Attorney Brent Cooper and staff for their assistance.
The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information related to the case to call 931-363-3505. As always, suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
