Mary Louise Green of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026, surrounded by family, at the age of 91.

Mary was born October 1, 1934, in Westpoint, Tennessee, to the late Madison Knox Green and Willie Pennington Green. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eight siblings and their spouses.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Rance) Church of Huntsville, Alabama. She is also survived by her three grandsons: Jason (Xin) Holland, Justin (Margaret) Holland, and Carter Church; as well as four cherished great-grandchildren: Noah Holland, Rylen Holland, Eloise Holland, and Della Holland, all of whom lovingly knew her as “Nanny”, and niece, Catherine Beuerlein.

Mary was a graduate of Lawrence County High School in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and Columbia Business College in Columbia, Tennessee. She retired from Redstone Arsenal, where she worked as a contract specialist. She was a longtime member of East Huntsville Church of Christ.

Mary found joy in shopping, crocheting, her jewelry, and gardening, and she especially loved the Christmas season and its traditions. For much of her life, she lived alongside her sister Waymon, who was also her best friend. Above all, Mary treasured time with her family, especially visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never letting them leave without a hug. Mary played an important role in supporting her grandchildren’s paths to college and independence, following their lives carefully and taking immense pride in their progress and milestones. Those closest to Mary also knew a lighter side of her, marked by her dry humor.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the memory care staff at Regency Retirement Village for their care and compassion over the last four months. They also extend heartfelt thanks to Compassus Hospice, especially Sarah and Morgan, for their guidance and support. Finally, no words can fully express the gratitude felt for Leslie Cares Group. Kendra, Angela, and Dana worked closely with Mary and her family to help her retain her independence at home for as long as possible.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026, with Bill Cantrell officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Project Linus. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
