Leoma Fire Department has entered into an agreement with Lawrence County EMS to respond to high-priority medical emergencies in the Leoma Fire District. The program aims to improve patient outcomes by providing medical intervention as quickly as possible from the closest available trained personnel.

The partnership between Lawrence County Fire Rescue and Lawrence County EMS began in October 2014. Leoma Fire is the eighth station in the county to join the program.

The decision to join came at the request of community members, including founding members of the department. The station currently has eight licensed emergency medical providers and has obtained the necessary equipment and training to meet program requirements. Officials said the department plans to go fully live with the program within the next 30 days.
