Giles County deputies responded around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, February 15, to a reported vehicle crash with injuries on Interstate 65. Investigators determined the crash occurred after the driver had been shot from another vehicle.
The driver, Sfenson Simeus, 26, of Lake Worth, Florida, was fatally shot and pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger, Elda Simeus, 23, of Plainfield, Indiana, also sustained a gunshot wound and was transported for medical treatment. She is currently listed in stable condition.
Sheriff’s investigators secured and processed the scene, and the case remains an active investigation.
Sheriff Joe Purvis described the incident as a “senseless and cowardly act of violence” and said the office is committed to identifying and apprehending the person responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Giles County Sheriff’s Office at 931-363-3505.
