The Smyrna Rotary Club was represented at the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club this week as Rotarian Robert Stevens shared highlights from the recent Rotary International Convention.

Stevens provided an overview of the 2025 Rotary International Convention held in Calgary, including a video presentation that captured the scale and spirit of the global gathering. He strongly encouraged clubs to send their incoming presidents to the international convention, noting that the experience offers invaluable leadership development and renewed inspiration for service.

The convention showcased Rotary as a truly worldwide organization, bringing together thousands of members from across the globe. A centerpiece of the event was the “House of Friendship,” where Rotary projects, initiatives, and international partnerships were on display. Stevens also highlighted Rotary’s continued commitment to polio eradication, underscoring the organization’s decades-long leadership in the global fight to end the disease.

Breakout sessions were offered for all phases of Rotary service and leadership, providing members opportunities to explore topics ranging from membership growth to public image and service project development. Particular attention was given to “Drivers of Member Satisfaction,” offering practical insights to strengthen local clubs and enhance the Rotary experience.

Among Stevens’ key takeaways:

Rotary is truly a global movement of remarkable size and impact.

Every member plays a meaningful role in that global mission.

In addition to convention activities, Stevens shared photos from an excursion trip into the Canadian Rockies, giving members a glimpse of fellowship beyond the conference hall.

Looking ahead, Stevens noted upcoming Rotary International Convention locations:

2026 – Taipei, Taiwan

2027 – Dubai, UAE

2028 – Minneapolis, MN USA

Stevens concluded by reflecting that attending the Rotary International Convention is a meaningful way to fulfill the third question of Rotary’s Four-Way Test: “Will it build goodwill and better friendships?” He affirmed that the convention experience certainly does.

Stevens shares his travel experiences on Instagram at @stevenstravels and on Facebook at Stevens Travels.

The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club meets weekly and is dedicated to service above self, supporting local and international initiatives that strengthen communities and promote goodwill worldwide.
