Charles Edward “Charlie” Bishop

Charles Edward “Charlie” Bishop, age 89, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his residence. He was a native of Gretna, NE, retired farmer and mechanic, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Lawrenceburg, Mr. Bishop served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. A. and Ruby Jessen Bishop; and two brothers, Carroll Bishop and Howard Bishop.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Niedergeses Bishop of Lawrenceburg, TN; one son, Greg Bishop (Lindsay) of Lawrenceburg, TN; three grandsons, Jase, Luke, and Beau; four brothers, Phil Bishop and Willard Bishop, both of Gretna, NE, Ken Bishop and Joe Bishop, both of Omaha, NE; several nieces and nephews. Those serving as pallbearers are Jayme Niedergeses, Shawn Chapman, Brandon Chapman, Jase Bishop, Liam Niedergeses, and Chris Niedergeses.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Volunteer Hospice and their team of caregivers.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home with a Prayer Vigil at 12:00 PM with Father Andrew Forsythe officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee with military honors. The family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
