A traffic stop Thursday, January 29, led to the arrest of an Athens man and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle on Huntsville-Brownsferry Road near Ripley Road, where Sgt. Cary Moore and Deputy AJ Davis developed probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, deputies seized nearly a quarter pound of cocaine, approximately 7 ounces of MDMA pills, and a firearm.
The driver and sole occupant, Jarvis Deshun Cain, 47, of Athens, was taken into custody and charged with 2 counts of drug trafficking and 1 count of certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. Authorities said Cain is a convicted felon.
At the time of his arrest, Cain was already out on bond on previous charges including drug trafficking, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Cain is being held in the Limestone County Detention Facility on a $1.5 million bond for the new charges. A bond revocation has also been issued on his prior charges, for which no bond has been set.
