The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Nashville has released its 2026 SKYWARN Storm Spotter training schedule, offering a series of free online classes for Middle Tennessee residents.
The basic SKYWARN classes will be held online on February 9, 16, 19, 20, 24 and 25, as well as March 2 and 3, with sessions offered at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. An advanced SKYWARN class is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. All classes are expected to last about 1.5 hours.
The classes are open to all ages, require no prior training, and are designed specifically for Middle Tennessee residents. Training will be conducted online using the GoTo Meeting platform and can be accessed on computers, tablets and smartphones. Registration is required for each class.
The National Weather Service notes that classes may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather.
