Lois Caperton Butler

Lois Caperton Butler, age 90, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was a native of Wayne County, TN, retired CNA from NHC Healthcare Scott, and of the Baptist Faith.  She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching hummingbirds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Maxie McGee Caperton; her husband, William J. Butler; four brothers, Paul N. Caperton, Jr., Edward Caperton, Larry Caperton, and Johnny Dale Caperton; four sisters, Billie Dodd, Edith Stults, Neva Odle, and Shirley Kilburn; and maternal grandparents, William Ed and Ollie Nelson McGee.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Spurgeon (Scott) of Lawrenceburg, TN; three grandsons, Andrew Spurgeon (Alexis), Chaide Spurgeon, and Tyler Spurgeon (Abby), all of Lawrenceburg, TN; four great-grandchildren, Kali Steadman, Quinn Ridgeway, Slade Gilliam, and Polly Jo Spurgeon; two brothers, Stanley Caperton (Shirley) and Frank Caperton, both of Lawrenceburg, TN; and one sister, Ruth Hayes of Sheffield, AL.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026, with Jerry McLain officiating.
