Jerry Dale Harris, age 89, of Leoma, TN passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a native of Portageville, MO, retired in 1978 as a security dog handler for the Air Force, and retired in 1997 from security at McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He was also a member of Salem Church of Christ and Gandy Community Club. Mr. Harris served his country honorably for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Opal Rainwater Harris; and one brother Gene Harris (Mary).
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Grapperhaus Harris of Leoma, TN; one daughter, Beverly Ruocco of Boynton Beach, FL; three sons, Paul Harris of Tampa, FL, Gary Harris (Cris) of Athens, TN, and Dale Harris (Danna) of Benton, AR; one step-daughter, Eva Merrell (Charles) of Wentzville, MO; seven grandchildren, Lauren Ruocco and Alicia Ruocco both of Boynton Beach, FL, Vincent Ruocco of Waterbury, CT, Skye Harris of Tampa, FL, Margot Harris of Lawrence, KS, Leland Harris (Kelsey) of Auburn, WA, and Kaitlyn Johnson (Aeron) of Wichita, KS; two step-grandchildren, Joel Merrell of Wentzville, MO and Rachel Merrell of Maryland Heights, MO; four great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Frank Grapperhaus (Carole) of Edwardsville, IL, Paul Grapperhaus (Kathy) of Highland, IL, and Gene Grapperhaus (Ruth) of Bedford, IN; five sisters-in-law, Alvena Kaufmann of Hixson, TN; Virginia Hammond (Terry) of Pekin, IN, Irene Detmer of Carlyle, IL, Margie Huelsmann (Ron) of Trenton, IL, and Rita Jurgensmeyer (Gene) of Carlyle, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with Mike Murphy, Skyler Hyde, and Keith Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at OK Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
