The National Weather Service has issued multiple winter weather alerts for Middle Tennessee and North Alabama, with dangerous conditions expected from midnight Friday night through 6 p.m. Sunday.

Ice Storm Warning – Southern Middle Tennessee:
An Ice Storm Warning is in effect for Lawrence, Lewis, Perry, and Wayne counties. Significant icing is expected, with snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches and ice accumulations ranging from a quarter to a half inch. Locally higher ice amounts are possible.

Ice Storm Warning – North Alabama:
An Ice Storm Warning is in effect for Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin counties. Snow and sleet accumulations up to 1 inch are expected, along with ice accumulations between a quarter inch and 1 inch.

Winter Storm Warning – Middle Tennessee:
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Giles, Maury, Marshall, and Bedford counties. Heavy mixed precipitation is expected, with snow and sleet accumulations up to 6 inches and ice accumulations ranging from one-tenth to three-quarters of an inch.

Winter Weather Advisory – North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee:
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Lawrence, Limestone, and Madison counties in Alabama, along with Lincoln County in Tennessee. Mixed precipitation is expected, with snow accumulations up to 1 inch and ice accumulations between 0.05 and 0.10 inches.

Officials warn that ice accumulation could lead to power outages and significant tree damage. Roads, bridges, and overpasses may become slick and hazardous, and travel could become impossible in some areas. Power outages may last more than a day, with dangerously cold temperatures expected after the storm.

Residents are urged to limit travel to emergencies only and prepare for extended power outages. Anyone who must travel should carry emergency supplies, including food, water, blankets, extra clothing, and a flashlight. For the latest road conditions, call 511.
