As temperatures drop this week, the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance is reminding residents to never use an oven to heat their home. Ovens are inefficient for warming large spaces and pose a serious risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, which is invisible, odorless, and tasteless. Officials also caution against burning outdoor barbecue materials, like charcoal briquettes, inside the home or even in a fireplace. Residents are urged to use safe heating methods to stay warm this winter.
