A 19-year-old is facing multiple felony charges following a fiery DUI crash in Lawrence County that injured several teenagers.

According to reporting by NEWS 2, the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 4 on Weakley Creek Road. A Tennessee Highway Patrol report states that a Chrysler Pacifica traveling east drifted off the right side of the roadway before the driver overcorrected, crossing the center line and left lane toward a wooded area. The vehicle overturned, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed in flames.

Lawrence County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and extinguished both the vehicle fire and flames that had spread into the surrounding woods. THP reported that seven people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Two medical helicopters were called to transport seriously injured patients to a trauma center, while the remaining occupants were taken to the hospital by Lawrence County EMS.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Braxton Reed, was injured and charged with DUI, implied consent, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and kidnapping.

Three passengers — one 18-year-old and two 19-year-olds — were also injured. Two additional 18-year-old passengers who were not hurt were charged with underage consumption. A sixth passenger, a 16-year-old with unspecified injuries, was also charged with underage consumption.

No additional information was immediately released.
