Lawrence County Fire & Rescue is offering fire safety education programs for students and is encouraging teachers and parents to participate.
According to data from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, fire-related fatalities increase by approximately 70 percent during the winter months compared to other times of the year. Lawrence County has experienced fire-related deaths in recent years, including incidents involving children.
Fire & Rescue officials say education is one of the most effective ways to reduce fire fatalities and improve safety awareness among young people.
Schools or organizations interested in scheduling a fire safety class may contact Lawrence County Fire & Rescue through private message on its Facebook page or by email at director@lawcofire.org.
