Preliminary investigation into the death of a Madison County, Alabama jail inmate indicates that he likely died as the result of a cardiac event. Inmate William Fails, age 44, reported January 5 that he was not feeling well and was transferred to the jail’s medical unit. After around 30 minutes he became unresponsive and life-saving measures were initiated. He was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Fails had been incarcerated since December 6 on a murder charge. Investigation into his death is still on-going.
