Vera Louise Skinner Odom passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 92 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1933, in Lawrence County, TN. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord in many capacities throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lawrence Skinner and Cannie Roselle Beck Skinner; her husband, Charles Odom; son, Mark Odom; and sister, Valeria Martin.
She is survived by two sons, Mike (Lesa) Odom and Steven Odom; one daughter, Melanie (Thomas) Wilkins; and daughter-in-law, Patti Odom. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Roxanne (Keith) Perry, Casey (Tara Beth) Odom, Jenny (Josh) Bridges, KeriBeth (Corben) Atkins, and Austin Odom; twelve great-grandchildren, Gracie, Dylan, Kasen, Kalee, Charlie, Reed, Grant, Hayes, Finn, Owen, Jackson, and Mac; one brother, Dr. Wendell Skinner; one sister, Sybil Hardison; several nieces and nephews.
Those serving as pallbearers are Keith Perry, Dylan Perry, Kasen Odom, Josh Bridges, Corben Atkins, and Austin Odom.
Vera was blessed with a wonderful group of caregivers, Andrea, Cathy, Jamie, Kalee, Margaret, Sandra S., Sandra M., and TaraBeth.
Mama Odom loved spending time with her family and cooking for all the family gatherings. She also spent lots of time hiking in the woods with her grandchildren and holding and reading to her great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2026, with Casey Odom and Reggie Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
