Maury County Sheriff Warns of Scam

The Maury County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents of a scam that continues to circulate in the area. The department has had a high number of calls from persons who received phone calls, claiming that they missed jury duty or a court date and that there is a warrant for the person’s arrest.  The caller usually has pieces of your personal information that is readily available on the internet, and attempts to intimidate you into making some sort of payment.  They may also clone the department’s phone number to appear more legitimate.  Officials remind you to never give out personal or financial information over the phone, and to notify your local law enforcement agency, should you be targeted in this manner.
