Grady Byrd

Grady Byrd passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 85 in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on November 28, 1940, in Giles County, TN, Grady lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his community.

Grady was the beloved husband of Allene Byrd, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a family and created countless cherished memories. He was a guiding light and a source of strength for his daughter, Karen Lee Christian, and her husband, Barry, of Columbia, TN. Grady’s joy was multiplied with the birth of his two grandchildren, Kara and Ali Christian, who will carry his legacy of kindness and integrity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Lee and Sadie Maultsby Byrd, and his brothers, Dean and Cleveland Byrd. Grady’s memory will be kept alive by his sisters, Orlean Smith and Jean Williams, as well as by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.

Grady’s life was one of service and commitment. After retiring from Murray Ohio, he remained an active member of the Eastside Church of Christ, where he found great solace and fellowship. An avid outdoorsman, Grady relished the time he spent hunting and fishing. His hands were skilled in the art of refinishing furniture, a craft that he approached with patience and precision, restoring pieces to their former glory. In his youth, Grady excelled in sports, a passion that he fondly recalled in his later years.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Pleasant Grove Cemetery at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with Mark Cross officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Graymere Missions, Graymere Church of Christ, 1320 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401.
