William Carroll “Billy” Nix, age 89, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at his home in Summertown, Tennessee. Born on March 2, 1936, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, Billy’s life was a testament to the enduring strength of love, family, and faith.

Billy was a man of great character and warmth, known for his quick wit and generous spirit. He retired from Stauffer Chemical, where he was respected for his dedication and work ethic. His commitment to his community was evident through his active membership at the Summertown Church of Christ, where he forged many lifelong friendships and served with humility and grace.

An avid outdoorsman, Billy found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature. His love for gardening was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his nurturing soul, as he tended to his plants with the same care and attention he gave to his relationships. Camping trips and fishing excursions were among his favorite ways to spend time, often accompanied by the laughter of loved ones and the stories that he so masterfully told. Billy’s passion for old westerns was well-known, and he could often be found reliving the adventures of his favorite heroes on the screen, a contented smile on his face.

Billy’s life was a beautiful journey shared with his beloved wife of 69 years, Betty McClain Nix. Their enduring partnership was a source of inspiration to all who knew them, a true example of unwavering commitment and love. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Diana “Doodle” Nix, who inherited her father’s kind heart and strength of spirit.

Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Edith Spears Nix; two sons, Tim Nix and Jeff Nix; and one brother, Jerry Nix, Billy’s legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told, the gardens grown, and the quiet moments of reflection by the water’s edge.

Those serving as pallbearers are Tim Bacon, David Chapman, Doug Chapman, Brent Blackwood, David Winters, and Wayne Blackwood.
