On December 11, 2025, a parole hearing was held for Kenneth “Pat” Bondurant. The Parole Board denied his request for release. Bondurant will be eligible to apply for parole again on December 1, 2028.
Brent Cooper, District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District, said he was grateful for the support of Giles County Sheriff Joe Purvis and retired investigators Michael Chapman and Jim Storey, who attended the hearing and offered testimony. Cooper noted that Sheriff Purvis spoke on behalf of Giles County residents, while Chapman and Storey provided details of Bondurant’s crimes and insight into his violent behavior. Cooper said their testimony made the recommendation to deny parole straightforward.
Bondurant was originally sentenced to death, but his sentence was overturned on appeal. He is now serving 65-year and 25-year sentences after retrial. His relative, Hugh “Pete” Bondurant, was previously released after serving his sentence.
