Sammy was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David “Ray” Scott and Annie “Jo” Page; his paternal grandparents, Robert Scott, Sam Whitehead, Leon and Eloise Peden McMurtrey; and one brother, Zack Patterson.

Sammy was a self-employed mechanic, a trade that showcased his remarkable talent and work ethic. His hands were skilled, and his heart was in every project he undertook. He attended Busby Church of God.

His interests were as varied as they were passionate. Sammy had a zest for life that was evident to all who knew him. He loved the outdoors, the roar of an engine, the camaraderie of friends, and the laughter of his children. He enjoyed football, going to the beach, and playing the guitar. His presence was a source of strength and comfort to his family and friends, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
