With the creation of Savanna’s Law, which takes effect January 1, Tennessee will become the first state in the nation to launch a public domestic violence registry. Under the new law, anyone who is convicted at least twice of domestic violence offenses will be added to the new registry. The law is named after Savanna Puckett, a Robertson County sheriff’s deputy who died at the hands of her boyfriend in 2022. The registry will be managed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. It will include information about each offender, including the name, date of birth, date and county of conviction, and a photo.
