Nettie Bonner Brown

Nettie Bonner Brown, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Born on July 24, 1932, in Lawrence County, TN, Nettie’s journey through life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and the warmth of her spirit.

Nettie’s early years in Lawrence County laid the foundation for a life filled with love and service. She was the beloved daughter of Horace and Fannie Steadman McCarter, who preceded her in death, as did her first husband, Reverend W. Glenn Bonner, and her second husband, Frank Brown. Their memories were held close to her heart, as she continued to embody the values they all shared.

A devoted mother and homemaker, Nettie’s life was a reflection of her Christian faith, which she lived out as an active member of Mars Hill United Methodist Church. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges and triumphs, and she was a source of light and guidance for all who knew her.

Nettie’s legacy is carried on by her loving family, who were the center of her world. She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Bonner Terry (Sam) of Spruce Pine, AL, and Anita Bonner Dietz of Manchester, TN. Her three grandchildren, Christopher Dietz (Amy) of Thomasville, GA, Lauren Terry of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Brooke Sorrells (Karl) of Huntsville, AL, brought her immeasurable joy, as did her great-grandson, Lukas Sorrells. Each of them will forever cherish the memories and lessons Nettie imparted.

An avid fisherwoman, Nettie found peace and solace by the water, with a fishing rod in hand and the tranquility of nature surrounding her. Her flower gardens were a source of pride and beauty, a reflection of her ability to nurture and cultivate life in all its forms. These interests were not mere hobbies, but extensions of Nettie’s love for God’s creation and her desire to be immersed in it.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with Billy Beal officiating. Interment will follow at Mars Hill Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
