Madison County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Scam

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam circulating in the area.  Once again, residents are being targeted by callers claiming that there is an active warrant for them or that they have missed jury duty.  The caller demands immediate payment to avoid arrest.  While sometimes the caller gives what appears to be a legitimate phone number or instructs the victim to meet at the courthouse or sheriff’s office to resolve the matter, they remind residents that these calls are scams.  They urge residents to hang up immediately, do not provide any personal or financial information, and report the call to law enforcement.
