Former Lauderdale County, Alabama Judge Gil Self was sentenced to 12 years in prison Wednesday following convictions for multiple ethics and corruption charges.  Self was found guilty on the charges in November after prosecutors presented evidence indicating that he had used funds from judicial accounts for vacations and personal expenses and purchases.  Immediately following the sentencing Self posted a $20,000 appeal bond, allowing him to remain free while his legal team pursues an appeal of the convictions.
