Joyce Marie Weigart, 78, passed away peacefully in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee on December 10, 2025.
Joyce was born on April 13, 1947, in Loretto, Tennessee. She was raised by her mother, Vina Johnson Ellis, and grandmother, Clara Pillow Johnson. She had 2 siblings, Juanita Wunner Kilburn and Carl Wunner.
Her mother-in-law, Annie Marie Weigart, planted the seed for her love of cooking from a young age. At age 38, Joyce opened the Family Restaurant in Loretto, TN while raising her 3 children. She moved on to open the Kuntry Kitchen in Lexington, AL, before eventually coming back home to open the Kuntry Kitchen in Lawrence County. Joyce ran the beloved Kuntry Kitchen for nearly 4 decades before retiring in 2022, and entrusting her legacy to her granddaughter, Joie Hunt. Her love of cooking, her family, and Tennessee sports is carried on by her dedicated family. Joyce will always be remembered as loving, forgiving, strong, and fiercely independent.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Vina Johnson Ellis, brother, Carl Wunner, sister, Juanita Kilburn, infant daughter, Susan Rena Weigart, beloved daughter, Donna Lee Carter, and grandson, Jason Carter.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Tina Hunt, son, Michael Weigart, her grandchildren, Josh Carter (Dena), Jerrod Carter (Kayla), Michael Weigart (Bobbi), Michelle Sherman (Kyle), Mathew Weigart (Anna), Mitch Weigart (Brooke), Chase Weigart, Jessa Toon (Drew), Joie Hunt (Eriq), Brody Hunt (Alexis), Barot Hunt (Jannia), 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2025, with Mickey Brackin officiating. Interment will follow at Loretto Cemetery in Loretto, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to Kid’s Place/A Child Advocacy Center. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
